"There is an old saying that the course of
civilization is a race between catastrophe and
education. In a democracy such as ours, we must
make sure that education wins the race." ~John F.
Kennedy
“The qualifications for self-government are not
innate. They are the result of habit and long
training.” ~Thomas Jefferson
"No one is born a good citizen; no nation is born a
democracy. Rather, both are processes that continue
to evolve over a lifetime. Young people must be
included from birth. A society that cuts itself off
from its youth severs its lifeline."
~Kofi Annun, United Nations
Secretary-General
