Registration

Stanislaus County Office of Education Alternative Education program will accept any student referred from their home district.  To be able to enroll you will need to acquire a  referral letter from the School district of residence, usually attained at the district office from the Child Welfare and Attendance department.

You will need to provide any expulsion documents with a rehabilitation plan if your student was expelled.

We will need transcripts, discipline and attendance records from the last school of attendance including any drop or exit grades and all known grades and credits earned.  This is important as we want to acknowledge any credits your student will have earned in their previous schools.  Your student will need to have a total of 200 units to graduate from Stanislaus County Office of Education Alternative Education program so any earned credits are important.

You will need to provide immunization records.  These can be obtained from the last school and are usually attached to the transcript.  If your student in in the 7th grade, state law requires the student to have received the first of a series of Hepatitis B shots in order to enroll.

If you student is receiving and special education or resource/special day classes you will need to provide a current IEP and all of the IEP paperwork as stated on the Registration check list.

When all the paper work is collected you will then need to call Petersen Education Pathways (PEP) at 209-238-6500 and schedule your students' assessment and orientation appointment.  A parent/guardian and the student must be present the day of the appointment.  Please make sure to bring in all required paperwork on the day of your appointment.  Your student will take an assessment test which takes approximately 1½ to 2 hours. (you do not have to present while the student is testing.)  After the test you and your student will meet with the Counselor to go over your students test scores, school placement and any questions you may have.

Usually students will start at the community day school the next school day. Independent Studies students should report on the day PEP assigns.  The official day of school will be finalized with the students Teacher of Record on the first day.
