As the College Initiative Coordinator I have been involved with the planning, preparation and promotion of college awareness issues for SCOE for several years.  SCOE hosts 2 College Awareness Night events every February at alternating sites.  These events are hosted at middle schools within the county, however, the information provided is for students in grades 6 through 12 and is for both students and their parents throughout our county and within our region.

I also facilitate the ARCHES Central Valley Regional Collaborative, which is a partnership of various organizations, including The Hispanic Leadership Council, El Concilio, PIQE, MJC, CSU Stanislaus, UC Merced, AVID, SPIE, and various school districts.  The primary purpose of this collaborative is to better prepare students in the Central Valley for college and to ensure that more students apply to and participate in college, with an emphasis on students that are underrepresented or show a history of struggling in these areas.
