Gallo Center for the Arts -
Arts Education Programs:  Pathways to Creativity

Pathways to Creativity is one of the great success stories at the Gallo Center. Since its inception in 2008, the program has presented performing arts experiences to 248,569 children from 351 schools. A total of 320 student matinee performances have been presented in that time. We look forward to building upon these accomplishments for years to come.

That arts experiences and academic achievement go hand in hand is indisputable. At a time when arts education is being cut back in our schools, the Center is only too happy to provide young people with these much needed opportunities.

These programs are for students at all grade levels, K–12. To participate in any of these events, please download your reservation form from Once again, bus transportation grants are available for classes/schools that purchase at least 50 tickets.

Townsend Opera Players

Townsend Opera, based in Modesto, was founded in 1983, under the direction of General and Artistic Director Matthew Buckman.  The new Director is Charla Lawson. Since February 2008, the company seeks to explore how an art form steeped in tradition can engage with the 21st century. Through the Opera Remix Initiative, launched in 2011, the company presents both traditional and forward-looking productions of the standard operatic repertoire and new American opera, and blurs the lines between classical arts and popular art experiences.
