Foothill Horizons Summer camp is a unique, one of a kind summer camp located in Sonora, CA. For more than 20 years, Foothill Horizons has offered themes to accompany each session. These themes are often based on movies, rides, and other interesting and fun activities and events. Foothill is much different than all other summer camps. It offers a safe and fun environment for kids to build lasting friendships and to explore their imaginations. Foothill's main goal is for kids to be kids and have fun.

The Camp Setting

Our facility is located just outside of Sonora, California at the Wade Outdoor Education Center and boasts over 140 acres of forests, streams, and trails. In addition, we maintain a pool, museum, astronomy tower, modern dormitories, a full sized dining hall and kitchen.

Our Campers

Children who are graduating 2nd through 7th graders are invited to sign up for our adventures. During their stay, campers bunk with children of their own age, but have many chances to interact with other age groups through camp activities. We offer a 2-phase Counselor-In-Training (CIT) and Junior Counselor (JC) program for graduating 8th through 11th grade children. For information about our CIT/JC program, call (209)532-6673 or visit the CIT/JC page.

The Summer Camp Staff

Our staff consists of highly enthusiastic teachers, counselors, camp instructors, and program coordinators. All of our staff members have participated in our four year CIT/JC program, and several staff members have been attending foothill for more than 15 years. Our staff consist of college students and college graduates that take great pride in their job, and want to provide our campers with the same amazing, positive experience they received at Foothill as a child.

Due to overwhelming participation in our outstanding Junior Counselor Program, we generally have no positions available on staff. Should positions become available we will have a notice on this site.

Camp Activities

Special camp activities vary according to the theme of the week. Campers also choose from other activities during the week, such as swimming, arts and crafts, video photography, river explorations, and many other skill building activities. Other special activities include campfires, Staff Hunt, sleepouts and weekly trips to Pinecrest Lake.
