ABOUT THE ACADEMY

The Tactical Character Academy (TCA) is a middle school program located at the Stanislaus County Institute of Learning operating under the direction of the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE).

The Academy Features:

  • Highly structured classroom setting
  • Character Training Center
  • Para-Military uniform with strict dress standards
  • Military theme:  Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard

Who Can Attend?

    1. Students who are enrolled in the Stanislaus County Alternative Education Program
    2. TCA is a school of “choice” and students must volunteer to attend
    3. Parents/Guardians of the students must agree to support the Academy’s Character Program which emphasizes basic core values. TCA is a voluntary program and parent/guardian involvement is mandatory.

The mission of the Academy is to challenge the mind, body, and spirit of our students with the values, skills, and education necessary to succeed in life.

 

ACADEMICS

The Academy uses the Integrated Core Learning Program which includes:

    1. Comprehensive reading curriculum

    2. English-language arts and mathematics

    3. Academic drills and skills activities

    4. Individual learning stations with Chromebooks and online curriculum

    5. Military Science Curriculum

    6. Military Science Curriculum

School Hours:

  • Monday (Minimum Days) 7:50 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday-Friday 7:50 a.m. to 1:20 p.m
  • New semesters begin in August and January

 

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

The tactical character education program emphasizes five Core Values:
Commitment, Discipline, Respect, Courage and Honor

A Character Report Card will be sent to students at the end of each semester. The report card is designed to help students reach their character goals.

  • Military veterans will aid and mentor TCA students.
  • Service learning and volunteer activities will provide opportunities for the students to learn about their community and how to become helpful citizens.
  • The school theme is built on a military foundation.
  • All branches of the US military are represented.
