Region 6 - After School Programs
The Stanislaus County
Office of Education Prevention Programs
Department serves as the Regional Lead Office
for after school programs in Region VI which
serves Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Tuolumne,
Amador, and Calaveras counties. Stanislaus
County (population: 439,508) is located in the
northern San Joaquin Valley of Central
California. Stanislaus County is the heart of
the agricultural belt. Amador (population:
36,500), Calaveras (population: 42,450) and
Tuolumne (population: 56,500) are adjacent to
Stanislaus County located in the central Sierra
Nevada Mountains. San Joaquin County
(population: 523,000) is located about 75 miles
east of San Francisco.
The Regional Lead
Office strives to provide training and technical
assistance to school districts, community
agencies, and other stakeholders who receive or
are interested in receiving and sustaining after
school funding for programs in region six. The
Regional Lead is the first point of contact for
accessing services and communication which
ensure quality after school program delivery.
Funds to support the efforts of the Regional
Lead office are provided by the California
Department of Education.
Our Goals include:
-
Provide quality after
school programs for all children throughout
region six.
-
Identify, develop and
link resources for after school programs
throughout the region.
-
Continuously conduct
an effective needs assessment which will
identify priority needs in the region and
appropriate strategies of meeting those
needs.
-
Provide multiple
training opportunities for after school
staff and stakeholders.
-
Support the
California After School Partnership by
strengthening policy voice of the field.
-
Increase community
awareness which focuses on the importance of
providing quality after school programs
throughout the region.
