Leadership Academy Winter Update

On Friday, December 9, Leadership Academy students participated in “Education Day.” Students started the day at the Career Inspiration Center, where they learned about the career and technical education programs offered through the four educational pathways (Technology, Health, Agriculture, and Manufacturing). Students participated in a handful of activities, including coding, robotics, and virtual reality activities from the technology pathway. Students also enjoyed CPR, phlebotomy, and dental hygiene activities from the health pathway. After their time at the Career Inspiration Center, students traveled to Modesto Junior College, where they toured the Great Valley Museum, the automotive program, and the agriculture department.

“Manufacturing Day” followed on Friday, January 13. Students started the day by touring the VOLT Institute facility and hearing about the training programs offered. Leadership Academy students then traveled to Pacific Southwest Container to tour the plant. They learned about all the careers required to produce packaging for a wide variety of retailers. Students wrapped up the day at E & J Gallo, where they were able to learn about the organization, scholarship/internship opportunities, tour the Dry Creek building and put the principles of manufacturing into practice in a hands-on activity.

In February, students will participate in “Media Day” and have the opportunity to tour Final Cut Media, Never Boring, and Golden Valley Health Centers. Students will also participate in interactive activities to be facilitated by SCOE’s Communications Department.
