Top Spellers Headed for County Spelling Championship

Top spellers from area schools will compete in the Stanislaus County Junior High Spelling Championship in November.  The Junior High Spelling Championship, for students in grades 7-8, is slated for Nov. 13, 2019 at the Petersen Event Center, 720 12th Street, Modesto.    Sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education, the event is open to the public and begins promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Schools participating in this year’s Junior High Spelling Championship include:

Blaker-Kinser, Central Valley Charter, Connecting Waters Charter, Creekside, Dutcher, Hanshaw, Hart-Ransom, Hart-Ransom Charter,  Hickman, Keyes Charter, La Loma, Oakdale, Our Lady of Fatima, Paradise Charter, Prescott, Riverbank Language Academy, Ross,
Sacred Heart, St. Stanislaus, Spratling and Turlock.

The top two spellers in the Junior High Spelling Championship will represent Stanislaus County at the state competition in San Rafael on May 2, 2020.   The third place speller will serve as an alternate. 

 

Note: There will be an opportunity for media to take photographs at any time during the spelling     
         championship. The competition will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (approximately).  The spelling
         championship is sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education.
