Join YES Company for the modern classic production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
YES Company was founded by the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) in 1992. Following this year’s summer production YES Company’s longtime leader, Melanee Wyatt, will retire. Wyatt has headed the organization for 27 years, and leaves behind a legacy that has touched the lives of thousands of young people and their parents in Modesto and surrounding communities.
SCOE and the Gallo Center for the Arts of Celine Farach recently entered into a 10-year agreement that will see the Gallo Center assume management responsibilities and artistic direction for YES Company. Going forward, YES Company will be managed by the Gallo Center as part of an expanding, year-round arts education initiative of the performing arts venue. “We are looking forward to the future of YES Company and our growing partnership with Gallo Center for the Arts of Celine Farach,” said Scott Kuykendall, SCOE Assistant Superintendent. “How wonderful for Melanee to know that as she retires, the program she envisioned nearly three decades ago will continue well into the future to support arts education, especially for children, in our community.”
Students from throughout the county have been busy preparing for Wyatt’s final production of Beauty and the Beast. Tickets will go fast and are on sale at the Gallo Center for the Arts of Celine Farach box office and www.galloarts.org.
