Vision

Stanislaus County Office of Education envisions a county wide commitment to ensure students in grades TK-12 have access to sustainable, high-quality instruction in all arts disciplines.

Mission

The arts education mission of Stanislaus County Office of Education is to support arts education and arts experiences for every child every day. This goal will be achieved through the following strategic directions:

Supporting community and educational arts advocacy
Providing and supporting showcase opportunities for students
Ongoing arts professional development for educators
Promoting artist residencies in school
Growing local arts partnerships
Recognizing, promoting, and celebrating local arts champions
Collecting, analyzing, and sharing local arts data

SCOE Visual Art Lesson Library (Grades TK-6)

SCOE VISUAL ART LESSON LIBRARY

The Visual Art Lesson Library is specifically designed for TK-6th grade general education and visual art teachers. It offers over 88+ lessons aligned with CA Visual Arts Standards, with plans to keep expanding. Each lesson includes a complete slide deck featuring both pictorial and written directions, making it easy for any teacher to integrate art into their classroom. The lessons are organized by season, grade level, and artist, offering flexible options for teachers at all levels of experience.

WAVES Curriculum (Grades 6-12)

WAVES SEL & ART CURRICULUM

WAVES (Wellness, Art, Vales, Expression, and SEL) Curriculum consists of thirty-five engaging trauma-informed art lessons designed for students in grades 6-12, each lasting approximately 60 minutes. No prior art experience or training is necessary for students or facilitators, ensuring accessibility for all. With lessons aligned to California Arts Standards and CASEL 5 core SEL competencies, WAVES leverages culturally relevant pedagogy and contemporary art to promote social-emotional learning in diverse environments.

Join us every September for the annual Art of the Educator Show, proudly hosted by the Stanislaus County Office of Education. This inspiring event showcases the creativity of educators and educational support staff from Region 6, highlighting the artistic expression of those who inspire both in and beyond the classroom.

Explore a diverse collection of artwork on display at SCOE and experience the vibrant creativity flourishing within our local educational community.

March into creativity at our annual Student Art Showcase, coinciding with Youth in Arts Month. Students from UPK-12 grades are welcome to submit their artwork. Join Us for Maker Hoopla — April 25, 2026!
Get ready for a day of creativity and discovery at Maker Hoopla, a free, family-friendly event hosted by the Stanislaus County Office of Education. Designed for K–6th grade students, this event offers exciting, hands-on STEAM activities that spark imagination and encourage exploration. This year we will feature arts and crafts inspired by Frozen, Pokémon, K-pop Demon Hunters, and more!

Celebrate learning through doing as students build, experiment, invent, and collaborate in a fun social environment. It’s the perfect opportunity to inspire curiosity and expand your child’s interest in STEAM.

Prepárate para un día lleno de creatividad y descubrimiento en Maker Hoopla, un evento gratuito y familiar organizado por la oficina de educación del Condado de Stanislaus. Diseñado para estudiantes de kinder al 6º grado, este evento ofrece emocionantes actividades prácticas de STEAM que despiertan la imaginación y fomentan la exploración. YES Company

YES Company

The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) and the Gallo Center for the Arts have entered into an agreement that will see the performing arts venue assume management responsibilities and artistic direction for YES Company. Cortney Hurst, Director of Arts Education for the Gallo Center, and Tiffany Davis, Arts Education Manager, will lead the new venture.

Founded by SCOE in 1992, YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Company offers a variety of programs that will now be managed by the Gallo Center as part of an expanding, year-round arts education initiative of the performing arts venue. YES Company’s signature offering is a nine-week summer program that immerses young people grades 7-12 in a pre-professional theater experience. Open auditions lead to an intense rehearsal period and culminate with seven performances of a Broadway-type production over the span of two weekends at the Gallo Center.

The Gallo Center will operate YES Company with partial funding by the Education Foundation of Stanislaus County, which has traditionally furnished support for the organization’s staffing, production and equipment needs, and tuition grants for deserving students.

Gallo Center Youth Academy

The Gallo Center Youth Academy at the Gallo Center for the Arts provides year-round performing arts experiences for youth grades K-6. GCYA features twice weekly, hour-long, sessions exploring acting, musical theater, playwriting, singing, composition and much more. Student performance showcases will be held twice a year (December and May) in the Foster Family Theater for family and friends.
