Session 2 of the Strengthening Co-Teaching Series
Designed for current or new co-teaching teams, leaders, and instructional coaches who are already familiar with the co-teaching approaches and want to deepen their implementation of co-teaching and use of the co-teaching approaches. Each of these stand-alone sessions (you could attend just one or all three) will focus on how to make a transformative shift from whole-group to differentiated small-group instruction. We’ll explore the mindset shifts necessary to make this change and we’ll walk through specific strategies and ideas teams can use within their context. Each session will also include a “your turn” time. During this time, teams will have an opportunity to design lessons and/or learning experiences for their students based on the learning from the session. They will be provided with a variety of resources, templates and coaching to support this work.
Each session will include hands-on activities to increase understanding of a specific model as well as time to plan instruction with coaching support. Teams may register for single or multiple sessions in the series.
Parallel Teaching:
Want a better understanding of what the Parallel approach is all about? During this session, we’ll discuss what it is, the benefits of this approach, and how to utilize it in your context. We’ll move beyond the traditional approach and look at ways to vary the model to better tailor your instruction to align with student needs and interests, address any concerns or issues, and make your learning environment more inclusive, productive, and enjoyable.
