Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer the stuff of the future, and it's crucial that we equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and use this technology in a responsible way. To prepare students for success, educators need to understand how AI technologies can be leveraged to facilitate learning and solve real-world problems.
In AI in Education 101, you’ll learn to identify the various types of AI and learn and discuss policies and procedures for the use of these tools in an educational setting. You will be discussing the importance of data privacy and security, and how to ensure that student data is protected when working with AI, as well as building some of your own tools to make AI concrete and accessible for you and your students.
We will also discuss the ethical considerations around the development and use of AI, and strategies for promoting responsible and ethical use of this technology among students.
This is a 10-week, self-paced course. The first class will be in person, and we encourage you to come to the other classes in person as well. There will be weekly interactions through the Canvas Learning Management System. No previous knowledge of AI or experience coding is required.
Price includes dinner on October 9th.
Note: Non-SCOE guests will need to bring a state-issued ID and check in with the security guard to enter the building. |
