Top Spellers Headed for County Spelling Championship
Top spellers from area schools will compete in the Stanislaus County Junior High Spelling Championship in November. The Junior High Spelling Championship, for students in grades 7-8, is slated for Nov. 14, 2017 at the Petersen Event Center, 720 12th Street, Modesto. Sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education, the event is open to the public and begins promptly at 5:30 p.m.
Schools participating in this year’s Junior High Spelling Championship include:
Blaker-Kinser, Cardozo, Connecting Waters, Creekside, Dutcher, Glick, Hart-Ransom Charter, Hart-Ransom, Hickman, Keyes Charter, La Loma, Mountain View, Oakdale, Our Lady of Fatima, Paradise, Prescott, Riverbank Language Academy, Ross, Sacred Heart, Spratling,
St. Stanislaus, Turlock, Ustach and Walnut Grove.
The top two spellers in the Junior High Spelling Championship will represent Stanislaus County at the state competition in San Rafael on May 5, 2018. The third place speller will serve as an alternate.
