You must possess, or be in the process of applying for, one or more of the following:
- a current California Preliminary Multiple Subject credential
- a current California Preliminary Single Subject credential
- a current California Preliminary Education Specialist credential
- a current California Level I Education Specialist credential
Also, you must be currently employed as a teacher under the credential you are trying to clear.
The goal of this training will be to : reduce attitudinal barriers which hinder the ability to be direct and comfortable with suicidal situations; dispel myths about youth suicide; identify the indicators and assess suicidal risk; provide guidelines for interveniong with a youth at risk of suicide; provide local suicide prevention resource information.
**Suggested Audience: All Staff
This training is based n the book The Behavior Code: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Teaching the Most Challenging Students. Participants will discuss interaction and intervention strategies that consider the psychological profile of the student as well as the function of the problem behavior. Trainging content will translate research-based psychological and behavioral knowledge into doable and effective interventions for teachers.
**Classroom teams are encouraged to attend together if you have a student with withdrawn and/or depressive behaviors
Children with special needs can struggle with emotional issues in addition to their physical or cognitive limitations making them more susceptible to depression. This training will help identify the signs, give positive ways to respond and identify resources to get needed help.
**Suggested Audience: Parents or caregivers of children with special needs.
